Alpha Testing help

Continuing the discussion from Zana Alpha Testing:

I know this may be a dumb question but I have to ask…
What is Alpha testing? I have been CoCo since before 2015 and I have never heard of it. I know Chaboi’s Alpha testing topic was posted in April but for some reason I never read it until a few seconds ago.

Alpha usually refers to (in games atleast) a state, where things’re still going to be added, is still unfinished and not polished enough for release. Same with “beta”, where there’s usually simply fixing bugs and similar necessary, rarely new additions like features.
Now the testing part refers to: exactly, testing the “hero/map/item/whatever” in question, to report bugs, and give feedback before it’s released in order to optimize the experience for the usual player, or user.
That’s as much as i could tell. Others are free to correct me and to continue from here, thanks!
