originally Vocaloid (such as Hatsune Miku, kaito, kagamine rin/len etc..) are synthesized voices extracted from a reclist of voices of real people (so this is NOT AI WORK this is 100% HUMAN.)
vocaloid are crazy expensive, so in 2008? I think. ameya, a Japanese software developer created UTAU (meaning ‘to sing’ in Japanese.) this is basically a free version of vocaloid, the very early versions were very limited, the first three utaus to be released together was kasane teto (her popularity eventually led her into becoming a real vsynth) defoko (the basic UTAU that’s pre-downloaded in UTAU) and momo momone
(fun fact: did you know the Nyan cat song actually uses her voice bank?)
anyways, a lot of people, unable to purchase vocaloid voice banks, usually turn to UTAU, they can also, like voice producers, record their voice in a reclist, there are different types of methods, cv, vcv, and vvcvv, and you can make utaus of different languages well! there are Russian ones afaik!
basically, it’s free vocaloid, but either you have to download a voice bank, or make your own, and making your own voicebank is a MONSTER

this is NOT ANIME. anime is something of Japanese production that is a CARTOON or ANIMATED SHOW. this is VOCALOID. not ANIME.
