Why is Codecombat still using var for JS?

Why is Codecombat still using var for Javascript variable declaration keyword everywhere?
I’d like to brush up on my JS basics, but find that the lessons may not have been revised since 2014?

1st of all, welcome back! (I don’t know you, but still)
2nd of all, just use ctrl+f and replace them all with let xD
But yeah, I think they should be updated.

Thanks for the welcome!
Of course I can “just” write ES6 (est. 2015), but that doesn’t change the fact that newbies are still taught 8-year-old ways, and it’s a very poor testament to the amount of work and/or diligence being put into this platform. Just saying.
