It was nice to be here, but I can disappear for some/long time (or forever:) )

GO :ukraine: !!!
(I still have trouble spelling :ukraine:…)

I guess Putin thinks that since Russia is the largest continent in the world, I guess he thinks that Russia is superior to all or something… And he hates how NATO is formed and wants the Soviets to form again so he can gain more power???

This is complicated…

And I thought the White House Invasion last year was crazy!!!

russia is a country… :eyes:

Well, this happened a long time ago in 2014 and earlier. Before in 20XX, they were called the Soviet Union, but they didn’t have enough resources to survive, and they decided to split into multiple countries. And now, Russia is strong again and they PROBABLY (This is probably) want to make it into Soviet Union again.

From what I have heard, NATO was not on friendly terms with Russia during the Cold War and some Russians and members of NATO may still hold grudges from that time. If Ukraine were to join NATO, Putin may view that as Ukraine becoming an enemy of Russia (Note: I am not agreeing with Putin; he should not antagonize Ukraine). Additionally, it seems that Putin does not want to make his motivations known. He claimed that he wanted to invade Ukraine because the president of Ukraine is a Nazi. That statement is obviously false as the President and Vice President of Ukraine are Jewish.

i think that @Learned is right because Putin might see it as a threat for a nato member to be so close to Russia so he decided to invade.

Putin must’ve lost a few brain cells, and is now karookakoo :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I think the main reasons are NATO and Ukraine being a major Soviet Union country

Well, he probably took a long time to plan this invasion.

It seems that many Russians do not agree with Putin after he invaded Ukraine. I heard that the amount of protesting in Russia increased significantly after the invasion. The increased protesting was also probably related to the speech Putin gave after Russia invaded.

Dwago, I know you understand that war is a serious matter, but it seems as if you are passing it off a little or making jokes. Just try to be more aware of how you’re speaking because it’s getting a little offensive to some people.

@enPointe77 is correct. It’s important to read the atmosphere of a discussion before saying anything. Funny things are not funny when it’s used in serious topics such as these. (And can potentially become offensive)

Look, @Deadpool198, take care of your “London” first before you meme about other countries. What does London have? Nothing. And, it is none of your business that the winter Olympics got hosted in my country, all this proves is that MY COUNTRY has the power to host Olympics and YOUR COUNTRY don’t.

Let’s be nicer to each other. Note my message earlier in this thread:

Both the UK and China are great countries. They also have their flaws. Even I’m not amused by my own country of Japan. They’re not doing great in changing to renewable energy, and it also has a dark history of WWII, such as the Rape of Nanking. The UK has a history of colonization, and China, too, also has flaws. There is no perfect country in the world. Even Belgium, the land of chocolate, has the history of King Leopold II, who caused the deaths of 10 million people in Congo. It’s easy to get angry when your country gets some criticism. It’s natural. There’s a term for it too: Nationalism. National pride is important and shapes your identity, you should not feel ashamed for being nationalistic and/or wanting to defend your country. But note that racism isn’t the criticism of a nation, but rather discrimination against a certain race or ethnic group. Examples of racism are African American segregation in the US, Asian-Hate due to Covid-19, the Holocaust, and many more. Also, let’s not go straight into, “your country sucks, ours is superior”. It’s good to feel pride, but not at the expense of others. This caused WWI, WWII, and many other wars and atrocities. Going back to the message earlier. It’s totally okay to hold your opinion, but be careful about expressing it as it may be offensive to others. Also, note that none of us are leaders or politicians of our respective countries. Treat each other as individuals and with respect, please.

I understand you may not like Deadpool’s opinion but it’s his opinion and (In my opinion) everyone is allowed their own. Please don’t make fun of people’s thoughts and opinions. I understand that you may find it offensive, but i’m sure he didn’t mean to cause any offence .
London is a beautiful place filled with all sorts of fun and food and drink to try.
It did host the Olympics, back in 2012.

Let’s try and bring this argument to a close and calm down.

I believe Nick is referring to the overall atmosphere of the discussion, which, if anyone reads some of the earlier messages on this thread, not very good. He’s also correct that forum rules apply to everywhere, including a non-politics rule. I made an exception(Which I learned was not a great choice) because the current situation is a potential learning place for many, and understanding it is a skill that will help as you grow up. The issue about these sensitive discussions is it can get(evidently) heated. Anyways, I’d really love to move on now, and note the original purpose of this thread. Let’s continue to share support towards Alexbrand and his family. :ukraine:
