Stuck on Mad Maxer

Normally, it is required to play the levels in the order they’re given, but if you have the link, you can technically play any free level.

Hm - if I see it correctly then, I’d need quite a few links to new levels in order to get enough gems to go and complete Mad Maxer so that I don’t need any more links.

Buying a different sword doesn’t really seem to be an option since:

  • it sets me even further back on gems for something that is worse than one I have already (just can’t use)
  • I don’t know which one would definitely be enough, so I could end up spending too many gems on too-good a sword, or wasting gems on one which is not good enough - and since there’s no buyback / sell option, that could put me even lower on the gem count.

How do I find the simulated levels (though I think I’ve already done them)?

As feedback to this issue in general: it’s quite frustrating to get stuck here based on gear / gems. I’ve been stuck on levels before this one, but that was because my code wasn’t doing the correct thing. Like I said, if it is a way to encourage subscriptions, then I think that needs to be stated more openly. If it’s not, and you should be able to progress through all obligatory maps on all campaign levels without a subscription, then it would be good to have more ways of getting / recovering gems (selling non-required gear could be a star - or maybe for special levels such as this you could “borrow” the sword?). Also, there could be a hint on the Mad Maxer level saying that the Simple Sword will not be enough. That would have saved me some hours of frustration

Good points. I just tested it and now that we actually put decoys in instead of munchkins, we can allow the long sword again, since cleaving doesn’t instakill decoys. So try the longsword again and give it another shot. (I did need 760+ health, but I think you should have that by this point.) And I have restricted the weakest weapons, too, since they won’t be able to kill everything in time. (If you don’t see the longsword as available yet, try it on http://direct.codecombat.com where there is no caching layer; it can take a day to update content sometimes on the main site.)

Thanks for the suggestions, and your patience!

By the way, the fangrider doesn’t get healed, but if the shamans spawn, then they will cast "grow" on damaged targets, which temporarily doubles health (and halves speed). So that’s probably what you were seeing.

Hi Nick,

Thanks so much for the answer, for the change and for the info about size increase
It worked now without any problems and I’m looking forward to the next levels! Can’t wait to carry on playing.

Also, mega plus points for your active forum and your quick help!

I didn’t use the long sword, I used the sword of the forgotton and I don’t have subscription.

This topic is three months old. Please, keep the dead resting!
