As a Battle Bus Academy student recently achieved a #1 ranking in arena, the headmaster Jonesy would like to offer this statement
We love codecombat and have always enjoyed their competitions and are humbled to, at the time of this post, currently be ranked #1 in Solar Skirmish. However, we would also like to share some honest feedback. While the idea of outmaneuvering an opponent is fun (even if it is a turtle), the weapons are insignificant and the strategy seems more geared towards outmaneuvering the platform rather than the opponent. Sources close to the student who built this (his dad) say the last few hours of design were essentially putting in weird superfluous turns to avoid colliding into walls. The student worked hard on this, but you can see an example of it not being consistently successful in this game where this league-leading code came to an inglorious end during the match by smashing into the side like a Baltimore sea captain.
To be clear, this is not cheating as all executed code leveraged tools provided, and thus the student should be rightfully enjoying their moment of glory. However, such a strategy is not as much fun as previous arena games such as the gravity one where all kinds of wild/chaotic but consistent events could be enjoyed by all participants. So while the BBA is happy to be on top, we found such games more worthwhile, even if our efforts never broke into the top 25.
Regardless, thank you all for the opportunity to play and we hope this is helpful.
