What is better value, the sword of the temple guard or the deflector? Sorry for the vague question, but I am not sure which to buy.

The Deflector will be more useful in later levels; I suggest you buy that. It has great bash damage and extra health which is what I like most. It is ultimately your decision

I would recommend deflector also because it has a lot of health and you will need that later and sword of temple guard isn’t useful to take down big enemies for that you need sword of forgotten

If you want to minimize the number of gems you spend on warrior gear, get deflector first then either sword later. Deflector offers health and damage in one package and will let you skip buying armor, and then after that you should grab either sword (I personally prefer the temple guard sword as the hitspeed is helpful for swarms, and the dps is not that much lower than forgotten).

The deflector. It adds a lot of health and can be used as a pretty decent weapon.
