What is the definition of "plagiarism"? How to judge whether it is "copy" or not?

Because now there is an AIleague, we use code to compete together, but this is not just a place to compete with code, it also includes strategies, but some people will think that someone is “copying”, but some strategies are okay, everyone thinks so, The so-called “plagiarism” means that the main ideas are the same and the methods of completion are the same. For example (using this season): My strategy at the beginning (not now, but during the Sun Skirmish) was to follow the others in a zigzag pattern. When I got first place, people quickly started copying me. Some people write exactly the same way as me, and some people have the same general idea, but they are all following, but the method has changed. I wouldn’t say they plagiarized, I would think it was everyone agreeing with me, but now there is one person (under the sun). When I tried to pass the test strategy and get first place, someone came out and accused me of “copying” him. When I studied his strategy, I found that his strategy was the same as mine at the beginning, which was to follow. I’m not sure who wrote it first, but I’m pretty sure my current strategy doesn’t fit in, but he insists that I copy his strategy (but our moves are very different) so I’d like to ask everyone what the definition of “plagiarism” is and ?
How to judge whether it is “copy” or not?

U know why he don’t want this topic, because what I said is him,u can see topic of sunfire

cool so now we’re publically shaming. very nice unholy, very nice.

Just remember unholy.
“All feasable attempts to insult me will just wilter at my feet. And any insults will just heal my wounds. Enjoy this tournament unholy. You are less than anything you can conceive, while I carry on, brimming with joy distilled from detachment.”

You did nothing wrong. The only thing you did wrong was that you started scolding others without recognizing the reality. I have never scolded you in chat (until you started being unreasonable)

Once someone reaches number one, you start accusing him of plagiarism. Not everyone will necessarily notice/study you. When you first accused me of plagiarism in Google Chat, I believe I meant it with the best of intentions. I’ll let you all know here and I think you know why. Do you want to consider showing everyone the dirty words you said and my “politeness”, I didn’t want to argue, so what I said was “but now there is a person” I didn’t ping you, you came here by yourself"

If I really “plagiarized”, then his scolding is reasonable, but I have explained it. I just want to know who is right. If anyone wants to know whether I “copied” or not, I can upload it again.(What I said at first may have been a bit radical, because this was not the first time, and I never scolded him.)

Alright, I have no comment on the situation itself, but some of those messages contain language that’s not appropriate to share on the Discourse. If you want to continue this conversation, please do so in a PM with others who want to be there (and don’t just randomly invite anyone)

As for you, Ritic. I understand your frustration, but insulting someone like this will often frame you as being in the wrong - even if you’re not. It’s difficult, but try to remain calm, or at least not show your anger to others. Try meditative techniques when you’re annoyed with a situation, or just take a short break and consider the situation from other perspectives.

To the question about plagiarism, there’s really no way to know without having a detailed timeline of who wrote what code, and when they wrote it.

Wait but what is wrong with copying the strategy? If you don’t copy the code, it’s absolutely fine, still even if the strategy is the same the code itself is absolutely different, I think that the AI League is supposed to make people compete in a fun way and inspire each other, and therefore make people learn.

When the game is over, I can announce my strategy immediately. I know that he has entered puberty and will be a little irritable. I don’t want to continue the quarrel. I just hope that he will not continue.

Furthermore, Unholy_Maker, the morality of sharing such private conversations on a public forum is debatable, and requesting permission to share them from Ritic first would’ve been somewhat better.

Indeed, I think that if Unholy’s code was simply inspired by Ritic’s then that’s completely acceptable and in the spirit of Aileague

The point is that my strategy has nothing to do with him. I have already written it out in Solar skirmish.

So should I delete it?

I couldn’t stand the “beautiful” words he said to me in private. I just hope he doesn’t talk nonsense here…

Uhh I’m not good at this kind of advice…

Do what you think you should do. Maybe replace them with a summary of the conversation, rather than the full thing?
