The general Idea of CoCo is great. It reminds me of Duolingo’s approach to learning. But much less effective. If a person can’t figure out a level, there is literally no recourse besides waiting for a response from instructor.
I also hate that it teaches me something, and when I go to use it in a later level, it has been disabled because it is unintended. This stifles any creativity and experimentation that can lead to understanding and information retention.
I’ve done a lot of online learning, app based learning, and game based learning. This feels like a waste of my time. I don’t feel I am learning concepts in a way that I could conjugate them into my own programs, nor anything that I would remember beyond this college course. To be fair, after this class, if I was reading code, I might have a basic understanding of some of the things happening. Your company has great programmers to write all of this, but I would suggest that you hire a Teaching Consultant to make the program more ergonomic and really foster learning and information retention.
Welcome to the forum @Julian_Twitty! This is a friendly place where you can ask help on levels, report bugs, or just chat with other coders! Don’t forget to read the guidelines if you haven’t yet. Have a great time!
Thank you for the feedback Yes, the home version is chaotic a little from the education point and more like an RPG game.
As for educational purposes, we have the classroom version of CodeCombat plus another product Ozaria which was made especially for schools.
We have a lot of plans on how to make the Home version of CodeCombat better. Just limited resources
I wonder if anyone has thought of some modern day units.
But that’ll just ruin the game a bit since is all magical age, I wonder there can be some certain units that acts like the modern age units.
I’m thinking like an assualt in modern while auto-crossbow in this age.
Auto-crossbow
Hp: 100 (depending on what you guys think best.)
Range: Moderate (like the archers range)
Abilities: Reinforcements (summons two to four munchkins or archers)
Flaming arrows (Lights the enemy target on fire for 1.5 seconds)
Lightning Speed (Fires arrows 2x as fast, last only for 12 seconds)
cost to deploy: 65 gold
damage: 15 (non abilities) 30 (Flaming arrows)
I don’t know precisely on the unit. it may be to OP when in combat.
Hopefully this is not an bad idea (Also I’m new to this.)
New idea
mordern day Tank could be an Cannoneer
Cannoneer
Hp: (brawlers Hp + armored 50)
Range: Moderate
abilities: Rush (Activates when an enmy unit is near, I will attempt to ram the unit. Dealing 10 damage to itself and heavy amount of damage to the unit around 150-200 damage)
reload speed: slow (since its an cannon, it can at leat take 2 seconds to reload)
damage: 50 on direct, 25 areail damage
Cost: 300 gold
I love the modern day weapons, Im just making them an bit older
now, time for some futuristic units. with an touch of medieval.
Wizard Mech (This mech was made out of copper and iron)
Hp: 3x brawler Hp +150 armor
weapons: L=left side, R=right side T=top, TR, TL
L: Fire Cannon (very effective but slow reload) Dmg: 290+ aerial Dmg 50 Reload: 5 seconds
TL: Heal shot ( Fires at a nearby friendly unit healing them by 5-10%) Dmg: None reload: 3 seconds
R: Cannon-spread-shot (fires 10 small cannonballs and spread widely) Dmg: 95 reload: 1.5 seconds
TR: Claw (used only for close combat, very effective) Dmg: 80 Reload time: 1/2 seconds
abilities: Wall stomp ( Stomps an wall up in front of it and heals itself up by 5%)
Cost: (Idk about this unit, It may be very expensive and maybe an boss unit)
I’ll let y’all pick an cost for this unit. this unit may be too strong and VERY effective near end game battles.
I love coming up with new ideas and changing modern tech to future to match magic medieval.
HP 9999999999999999999999999999999999
COST 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001
DAMAGE 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
ABBILTY WIN
wins the game for u for the cost of 10 gems each win
i would like a unit similer to griffin rider
as you guys probably know a griffin rider is like a upgraded archer
so what about a upgraded soldier?
not like the paladin
but a soldier with 2.5x the health of the normal soldier?
cost: 40 gold
dps: 25 (because it is mainly used for tanking)
special (like how griffins have kb) this unit can heal its self for 20 hp every 5 seconds
name: idek like super soldier or Tanker?
I think it would be so funny to have an among us unit
like this;
Reddy the Suspicious
cost: unknown (might no be sent out in game anyways, but if it did idk cost)
dmg: 100
ability: gun (shoots an gun at an nearby enemy) dmg; 150 last one second reload: 5 seconds
throwing knifes (throws 18 knifes at random enemy units) dmg; 20 last 3 seconds reload: 4 seconds
sharp tongue (attacks an nearby enemy unit and sucks 10% back into itself) dmg;125 last 2 seconds
reload: 8 seconds
last ability costs you greatly
MegaSus (turns the unit into an man- eating machine and uses all of it abilities at once and they last 3x longer)
cost for MegaSus: unknown, but might be very expensive
Hp: Unknown (idk what Hp can be used for this unit)
